Alicia Zhang

Alicia is currently in her second year of University, studying Psychology and Business. She is a certified Jack Talks Speaker (Jack.org) and part of the Advocacy Team for Active Minds at Western University. She was the President of the Richmond Hill High School Debate Club and was the Head of Training at her local DECA Chapter. Her passion for Youth Mental Health is matched by her expertise; Alicia is also Certified in the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Nate Meidinger, MSW, RSW

Nate is a registered Social Worker and Tailwind's Head of Wellness. He has counselled hundreds of post-secondary students over the past 5 years and specializes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

  • Is this really free?

    Totally. No catches. Nothing hidden. How you may ask? We are dedicated to designing the best possible service and product for students who are beginning their university or college journey, and designed this program to offer students an opportunity to prepare mentally for this big transition. By offering it for free, we want to make it accessible to students who are interested, and learn from their feedback to improve our program and platform for future generations. We also have a premium paid version of our program for schools who want customizations, insights, and extra support. Please contact us for details.

  • I'm a parent, can I join?

    Absolutely! You'll learn some really interesting things you can apply to your own life, and have some additional context for how you can support your child through the transition into first year. At the high schools who have licensed our program, 100% of parents polled said they were happy their school was working with Tailwind.

  • What's your privacy policy?

    You can read it here: https://www.teamtailwind.ca/pages/privacy When you sign up, we'll collect your Name and Email. You don't have to share your phone number, but if you do, we can keep in touch via text to let you know each week when new content is available. After the program, we'll keep you in the loop with our journey. Any question you answer in our program is optional, and the insights we collect about anything you choose to share about your mental health is 100% anonymous and confidential.

  • What happens after I complete the program?

    We'll send you an email with an update about how things went, what we learned, and welcome you to be part of our journey moving forward. For instance, we have a Student Advisory Board. We also routinely hire co-op students. If you like what we're doing and want to be involved in some way share or form, simply send us an email and we'll be in touch.

  • How does it work?

    You can pre-register by clicking one of the sign up buttons on this page. We will then follow up with you by sharing details for when the next cohort begins. You'll be sent a link to log into your account, and you will be able to access the program by logging into our website. Each week, you will receive new episodes and resources, put together by current students and registered mental health professionals.

  • What's the time commitment like?

    Each week's content will take about 10-15 to complete, that's it! The program is broken down into 6 components. In our free version, that equates to 6 weeks long. In all, that means you can expect to spend 1-2 hours over 6 weeks to complete the program. When we work with schools 1:1, we customize all timelines to fit your school schedule.

  • How do I sign up?

    Absolutely! Again, this is something awesome we are doing for a limited amount of time. If you have a friend who could benefit from this, share away! Remember this is designed for current high school, college, and university students. Parents of said students are also welcome.
